Biba and the Jetsons of Kilrymont

This talk will take a look at the design of this School and the influences of the 1950s and 60s on its architect. It will reveal an amazing amalgam of Scandinavian, Japanese, Modernist and American elements. The space race can be discerned in its shapes and materials, as can the colours of the swinging 60’s. It was the final fling of the County Architect. This talk will confirm that after WW2 St Andrews was a dynamic and forward-looking town that embraced opportunity and celebrated its heritage of education.
