St Andrews Preservation Trust

Volunteers form a vital part of the organisation. They fill various roles from welcoming visitors, helping deliver events and workshops to assisting with the administration and marketing.

People of all ages and backgrounds volunteer their time to learn new skills, gain work experience, have fun, meet new people or simply to make a difference. Over 50 volunteers kindly give their time and expertise to help us across all aspects of our work.

How to volunteer for a role 

Please send us an email telling us about yourself and your experience in Museums, Administration and Charities, or attach a CV if that’s easier and send to trust@stapt.org.uk

Once we have received your email then we will be in touch. We may then arrange to meet you to have a chat about the role, to check that it is right for you.

Marketing & Events

We need help in our office with a wide range of desk-based tasks to support our charitable work, such as assisting us with:

  • Emailing details of our activities to local publications
  • Laying out our e-newsletter
  • Carrying out research and collecting information
  • Taking bookings for events
  • Distributing leaflets/posters locally (away from office)
  • Preparing for events (eg sending out invitations)
  • Creating posters/leaflets

What are we looking for?

Someone who is confident using computers/internet (IT literate)

Someone who is able to volunteer on flexible basis with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per week – days/time by mutual agreement.

Someone who is reliable and organised.

 

Social Media

We are in need of some help with our social media channels.   Do you have the relevant expertise?  You would be assisting with the following:

  • Managing the Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages
  • Scheduling 2/3 posts for each week
  • Sharing content from museum page onto Trust pages
  • Contacting local businesses over social media i.e. ‘Hi, My name is X from the Preservation Trust. We love your content and wonder if you wouldn’t mind sharing some of ours too?’
  • Continuous engagement with other Preservation Trusts over Twitter
  • Engagement with the medieval history accounts in the twittersphere
  • Report social media engagement statistics weekly

What we are looking for?

Someone who is confident using computers/internet (IT literate)

Someone who can commit 2-5 hours per week on a flexible basis – this is not and office based role.

Someone who is reliable and organised.
