St Andrews Preservation Trust

FUNDS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED FOR TREE FELLING AND PRUNING, RE-PLANTING, FENCE REPLACEMENT, IMPROVEMENTS TO HABITAT AND PATHS, AND THE FUND FOR CURRENT AND FUTURE MAINTENANCE.

  • £25 would pay for one metre of fencing.
  • £100 would pay for the planting of a replacement tree or four metres of fencing.
  • £1,500 to £2,000 would pay for the cost of felling one tree.

What is Boase Wood?

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

For 30 years Philip Boase owned and tended this wood and in 1963 it was bequeathed in his memory to the St Andrews Preservation Trust for the continued enjoyment of the public. The terms of the bequest require that the wood be maintained to provide a habitat for birds and small animals.

In all the years since the Trust became responsible for the wood it has worked to keep it natural and beautiful as well as safe for the general public. This has involved much effort by trustees and volunteers as well as professional work by tree surgeons from time to time. Now, however, there is a need to renew fencing, remove a number of potentially dangerous trees and to establish and implement a plan for future maintenance.

Volunteers are needed to help with maintenance (especially after the spring flowers have passed). St Leonard’s School and the students’ Tree & Frog Society have helped in the past and others will be welcome to join us.

Professional help is vital if the woodland is to be made safe and beautiful and work cannot be delayed for long. The costs will be high and the Preservation Trust is not wealthy. Your help is needed to make your wood a place of peace and beauty for you and future generations. Remember that, if you pay UK Income Tax (at whatever level) or Capital Gains Tax, you can authorise your donation to be treated as Gift Aid, allowing the Trust to reclaim £2.50 for every £10 you donate.
